Building on skills developing rich characters and emotionally engaging plots he honed as a screenwriter, William has transferred to fiction the skills that have earned him scores of screenwriting awards. Competition judges routinely comment on the visceral emotion and evocative visuals that animate his pages.
His debut novel, Someone to Watch Over, won the Women’s Fiction Writers Association’s Rising Star Award. In screenwriting, he has earned Best Screenplay awards at film festivals from California to the Carolinas, as well as placed among the top finishers in such competitions as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Nicholl Fellowship Screenwriting Program and Amazon Studios.
His screenplay for the coming-of-age family film Captiva Island featured Academy Award-winning actor Ernest Borgnine. Finding international appeal, the movie was distributed in 36 countries, was translated into four languages and aired domestically on HBO Family, Showtime and Starz.
