After launching his creative writing journey as an award-winning screenwriter, William pivoted to fiction, and his debut novel, Someone to Watch Over, won the Women’s Fiction Writers Association Rising Star Award.
He began writing professionally after graduating from the University of Florida’s College of Journalism & Communications. His career includes stints as an award-winning
magazine editor and staff writer, as well as a freelance writer and editor.
Additionally, William has won film festival screenwriting competitions around the country, including the Vail Film Festival, the Asheville Film Festival, Worldfest-Charleston and the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California. Competing against writers from around the world, he has also earned multiple top placements in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Nicholl Fellowship Screenwriting Program in the genres of drama, comedy and live action/animation adventure.
He is the screenwriter of the coming-of-age movie Captiva Island, featuring Academy Award-winner Ernest Borgnine. The family film found international appeal, was distributed in 36 countries, translated into four languages and aired domestically on HBO Family, Showtime and Starz.
William was born in Augusta, Georgia, and grew up in Fort Myers, Florida, along the Gulf of Mexico. He spent his early writing years living between Georgia and Florida and now lives in Seattle, Washington, with his wife and two rescue cats, a mother and son named Lucy and Linus. When not writing he can be found writing and recording music in a makeshift home studio and searching the web for next-level guacamole recipes.
