I’m excited and grateful to be able to launch my author’s website. I’d like to say a sincere “thank you” to the people in my life for their encouragement and support as I completed my novel, Someone to Watch Over. First, much love to my amazing wife, who keeps me surfing over the waves that inevitably roll in, over, and through the highs and lows of creativity.

I’m also grateful to my family and friends and my fellow writers in Seattle, with whom I’ve sweat over pages. I began as a storyteller in the film world writing screenplays and, although that experience has given me a solid grasp of narrative foundations, it’s been heartening to grow beyond the limitations inherent in that literary form, particularly time constraints; you can only tell so much story in a two-hour film. The more expansive canvas of the novel allowed me to dive much deeper into the characters and the story-world they inhabit—I discovered things about the book’s Riley family I never knew before when the story existed only as a screenplay. It was a rewarding journey to take with them, and I thank them for that.

When Someone to Watch Over was fortunate enough to garner awards and accolades as a screenplay early in its development (it was titled Chasing Echoes), it struck me that maybe I had captured a story that moved people in the same way I was moved writing it. That’s why I adapted it into a book, to try to reach as wide an audience as possible. I hope readers enjoy it and find something amid the pages that they can carry forward and share with others. Be kind out there.
